Charity Film Screening for International Women's Day
Friday 08 March 2019
To mark International Women's Day on 8th March Wiltshire-based charity Women and Girls is organising a special screening of Pad Man supported by Reel Cinemas and Natural Numbers Ltd. This 2018 Bollywood film was a significant step forward in addressing issues surrounding period poverty in India, where discussing menstruation is, in many places, taboo, and we are delighted to be able to share its message.
The film highlights the need for both affordable sanitary protection and also the need to begin conversations about menstruation and menstrual hygiene.
Tickets to the screening cost £15 and will include a glass of wine and canapés on arrival at 7pm. The film will begin after a brief insight into the work Women and Girls is doing to combat period poverty in India at 8pm. At least £10 from each ticket will provide hygienic and reusable sanitary protection to women and girls in India, meaning each ticket holder will be helping two women or girls for at least a year of their life.
