Getting the Most Out of Chippenham BID

Chippenham BID aims to provide value for money for every levy-paying business, and there are several ways BID businesses can engage with their BID. Mystery Shopper: using a nationally accredited company to provide businesses feedback which they might otherwise not be able to get, helping independent businesses across all sectors access similar opportunities as the national retailers in the town and supporting national retailers who no longer run mystery shopper programmes. This campaign has allowed the BID to highlight the excellent levels of customer service across the town and support businesses to improve the way that they operate.

 Networking Events: the BID holds quarterly breakfast meetings around the BID area, bringing in expert speakers and offering BID businesses the opportunity to network over croissants and coffee. To date, we have welcomed speakers on topics from social media to employability skills. Breakfasts take place within the BID area and are arranged for early in the morning (7.30am-8.45am) to enable business owners and workers to attend outside standard work hours.

 Chippenham Business Awards: recognising the best of what the town has to offer and celebrating its successes as well as showing Chippenham to be a vibrant and successful place to do business. This project provides businesses with the opportunity to shout about why they are among the best at what they do and is largely subsidized by sponsorship and ticket sales.

 Expert Panel: Chippenham is lucky to have within its business community a range of great professional service providers, many of whom are happy to offer introductory sessions for free to other businesses in the town. Whatever your needs, from tax and accountancy to HR and legal, contact the BID team and we will put you in touch with someone who can help.

 Cost Savings: by working with partners across a variety of costs that all businesses incur, we are able to help all businesses in the BID area to reduce their overheads. The BID is currently working with BCR Associates who can help cut costs on utilities, telecommunications, insurance and more. The BID also has a partnership with local company Grist Environmental to help BID businesses save on waste removal, with the average saving being around 25%.

 Other support: the BID’s Town Hosts work with businesses on a daily basis helping with everything from marketing to crime reduction. The town’s retail radio network (and pubwatch radio) are supplemented by online systems for identifying shoplifters and preventing them from entering premises.  The BID’s staff have also helped businesses with everything from parking tickets to social media development to representing their interests to the Councils.
